Role Description
The Sports Marketing Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Sydney. This position is responsible for planning and executing sports-focused marketing campaigns that drive brand awareness, customer engagement, and sales across retail and online channels. The role involves managing sponsorships and partnerships with athletes, teams, and events, coordinating promotional activities, and overseeing social media and content initiatives related to sports performance and supplementation. The Sports Marketing Manager will collaborate with internal teams and external partners to align marketing efforts with business goals, track campaign performance, and optimize strategies based on data and customer insights. Day-to-day responsibilities include project management, budget oversight, briefing creative resources, and ensuring consistent brand messaging across all touchpoints.
Responsibilities
Strategy & Planning
· Support the delivery of the sports marketing plan in line with the brand’s objectives and campaign calendar.
· Research and help evaluate partnership opportunities across athletes, teams, leagues, gyms, federations, and events.
· Coordinate athlete and ambassador onboarding, deliverables, product requirements, schedules, and ongoing communications.
Partnerships & Activations
· Coordinate sponsorship and athlete activations, including planning, creative requirements, event logistics, product, signage, and post-event reporting.
· Build strong day-to-day relationships with athletes, agents, sports organisations, event coordinators, and brand partners.
· Support partnership administration, contracts, deliverables, timelines, and reporting to help maximize value and brand visibility.
Brand Storytelling & Content
· Work with the content and social teams to identify and deliver content opportunities through athletes, events, and sports partnerships.
· Coordinate photo/video shoots, interviews, athlete appearances, and collaborative campaigns.
· Help ensure sports partnership activity is represented consistently across social, retail, email, digital, and in-store channels.
Performance & Insights
· Track and report on key partnership and activation KPIs, including reach, engagement, content delivery, attendance, and other agreed measures.
· Support budget tracking, purchase orders, invoices, forecasts, and general administration for sports marketing activity.
· Stay up to date with sports, fitness, cultural, and competitor trends and bring relevant ideas to the team.
· Support the development and scheduling of sports-related content across platforms including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
· Assist with simple creative assets, presentations, briefs, and event collateral in collaboration with the design team or using tools such as Canva.
· Monitor athlete, partner, event, and competitor activity to identify content and activation opportunities.
· Coordinate athlete and partner communications to ensure agreed deliverables are completed on time.
· Maintain trackers and provide regular reporting on partnership performance and campaign delivery.
· Support athlete, influencer, brand, and event collaborations from briefing through to execution.
· Conduct competitor and industry research and stay current with sports marketing and social trends.
· Help maintain sports marketing calendars, asset libraries, contact lists, and partnership documentation.
Qualifications
· 2–4 years of experience in marketing, sports marketing, partnerships, sponsorships, events, social media, or a related field.
· Some experience coordinating campaigns, events, partnerships, influencers, athletes, or external stakeholders is preferred.
· Experience or a strong interest in sport, fitness, consumer products, health/wellness, or performance industries is highly regarded.
Skills
· Strong organization and project coordination skills, with excellent attention to detail.
· Confident communication and relationship-building skills.
· Comfortable working with data, trackers, reporting, and campaign KPIs.
· A proactive attitude and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
· Basic photo, video, editing, or Canva skills are a bonus but not mandatory.
