Staff Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented Junior Accountant to support our accounting team in a fast-paced restoration and home repair environment. This role is ideal for someone who wants hands-on experience across accounts payable, job costing, reconciliations, and month-end close processes within a construction/services business.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports

• Perform bank and credit card reconciliations, researching and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner

• Support month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations

• Process and record check deposits, ensuring accurate and timely posting to the general ledger

• Support job costing by reconciling costs against active restoration jobs and flagging discrepancies

• Perform accounts payable functions, including reviewing vendor invoices and coding to appropriate jobs/GL accounts

• Maintain accurate and organized supporting documentation for all transactions

• Assist with maintaining the vendor master file, including W-9 collection and 1099 tracking

• Respond to internal inquiries from project managers and field staff regarding invoice status and account activity

• Assist with preparing schedules and documentation for audits and tax filings

• Identify and help resolve discrepancies in financial records

• Perform other accounting duties and special projects as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)

• 1–2 years of accounting experience; internship experience welcome

• Basic understanding of accounting principles (GAAP) and double-entry bookkeeping

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP a plus)

• Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) preferred

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

• Good written and verbal communication skills

• Experience in construction, home services, or restoration industry accounting is a plus, but not required

Pay: $56,160.00 - $64,400.00 per year
