Davis Crane Group is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our corporate accounting team. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant will support the company’s day-to-day accounting operations and month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring financial information is accurate, timely, and complete.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Must have a strong understanding of full-cycle accounting processes, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and month-end close procedures.

  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations for multiple bank accounts, including downloading daily bank transactions and posting zero balance account sweeps entries, to ensure deposits, checks, fees, and other transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled to the general ledger.

  • Prepare, review, and post journal entries, including recurring and accrual entries.

  • Prepare and maintain monthly balance sheet account reconciliations; research, document, and explain outstanding balances and variances.

  • Review monthly credit card transactions for accuracy, proper coding, and supporting documentation.

  • Work closely with the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams to ensure transactions are recorded accurately and timely.

  • Calculate and file assigned monthly and quarterly sales and heavy-duty diesel tax returns.

  • Maintain and update sales tax exemption certificates as needed.

  • Support the preparation of financial statements and reports, including variance analysis and explanations of significant changes.

  • Assist with the preparation of schedules, analyses, and supporting documentation required for external audits.

  • Serve as an occasional backup for payroll processing.

  • Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in accounting, finance or related field required with a minimum of 2 years experience.

  • Strong understanding of general accounting principles and full-cycle accounting processes.

  • Experience with month-end and year-end close procedures.

  • Willingness and ability to learn and adapt to new ERP system.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and basic data analysis and reporting functions.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members across the organization.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and recommend process improvements.

  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
