Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our finance team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing core accounting functions, ensuring compliance, and supporting the organization’s financial health through accurate record-keeping and reporting. Your expertise will help drive efficient financial operations, maintain the integrity of financial data, and support audits and regulatory requirements. Duties

Prepare, review, and analyze journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.

Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, including balance sheet reconciliation and financial statement preparation.

Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes using financial software such as Clarity and Sage; ensure timely payments and collections.

Support internal controls and compliance by documenting processes and conducting audits as required.

Conduct data analysis using Excel spreadsheets to identify discrepancies, trends, or opportunities for process improvements through Excel data analysis techniques.

Handle confidential information with integrity while maintaining high standards of accuracy in all accounting activities.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams on projects involving governmental accounting standards or specialized financial concepts.
Skills

Strong understanding of Accounting Principles and experience with corporate or governmental accounting practices.

Proficiency in accounting software such as Clarity and Sage; familiarity with multiple systems is preferred.

Experience with technical accounting topics including journal entries, account analysis, account reconciliation, double entry bookkeeping, and general ledger management.

Excellent numeracy skills combined with strong math aptitude for credit analysis and account analysis tasks.

Ability to perform detailed account reconciliation and balance sheet reconciliation efficiently.

Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications—particularly Excel—for data analysis and spreadsheet management.

Prior experience in public accounting or internal corporate finance roles that involve bookkeeping, tax experience, or audit support is highly desirable.

Strong customer service orientation with the ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly across teams.
