Palm Shores Behavioral Health Center has been dedicated to providing comprehensive mental health treatment to at-risk youth since 1985. Our facility offers specialized inpatient psychiatric care for adolescents, supported by a multidisciplinary team of clinical professionals committed to fostering healthy behavioral and emotional development.
Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will possess strong accounting skills, experience with various financial software systems, and a thorough understanding of accounting principles such as GAAP. This role involves managing financial records, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and supporting the organization’s financial integrity through accurate data entry and account reconciliation.
Duties

Prepare and analyze journal entries, account reconciliations, and balance sheet schedules to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes using financial software.

Conduct general ledger accounting activities, including month-end closing procedures and account analysis.

Assist with budgeting, financial reporting, and variance analysis to support organizational decision-making.

Ensure compliance with internal controls, SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) requirements, and applicable governmental regulations.

Utilize Excel data analysis skills for financial modeling, reporting, and audit support.

Handle confidential information with discretion while maintaining high standards of data accuracy and security.
Experience

Proven experience in accounting or finance roles within corporate or governmental settings.

Familiarity with accounting systems and financial software.

Strong understanding of GAAP principles along with experience in public accounting is preferred.

Demonstrated ability in technical accounting tasks including journal entries, account reconciliation, and balance sheet management.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite—particularly Excel—and spreadsheet data analysis techniques.

Excellent numeracy skills combined with attention to detail and organizational abilities necessary for accurate bookkeeping and data entry.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field.

Skills: Have the ability to deal with diverse and stress related situations in a calm manner. Must be detail oriented with a high degree of accuracy. Effective oral and written communication and guest relation skills required. Must have good organizational and computer technical skills and have the ability to set priorities.

Physical Requirements: Visual acuity, accurate hearing, extensive sitting and ability to lift twenty (20) pounds.
