Job description
Royal Electric is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our corporate accounting team. The Staff Accountant will support the day-to-day accounting operations of the company, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, financial reporting, and job-related accounting.
The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Experience in the electrical contracting, construction, or commercial services industry is a plus.
Key Responsibilities

Perform daily accounting activities and maintain accurate financial records.

Prepare and post journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts.

Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, vendor accounts, and other balance sheet accounts.

Assist with accounts receivable, customer invoicing, cash receipts, and collections.

Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes.

Prepare and maintain supporting schedules for financial statements.

Review transactions for accuracy, proper coding, and appropriate documentation.

Assist with job costing, including reviewing project expenses, labor, materials, purchase orders, and subcontractor costs.

Work with project managers and operations personnel to resolve billing and accounting discrepancies.

Assist with customer and subcontractor account reconciliations.

Support preparation of monthly financial reports and management reporting.

Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis as needed.

Maintain organized and accurate accounting files and documentation.

Assist with audits, tax filings, and other requests from external accountants.

Identify discrepancies or process issues and recommend improvements.

Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred.

2–4 years of accounting experience; construction or electrical contracting experience is a strong plus.

Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and general ledger accounting.

Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, sorting, filtering, and data analysis.

Experience with accounting software or ERP systems.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines and work independently.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.
-
Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling financial information.

Hourly Rate:
- $35-40 per hour
