Summary

We are seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to join our team at Scheulen Patchett Edwards. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for various day-to-day tasks, including preparing income tax returns for individuals, partnerships and corporations, preparing financial statements, researching tax issues, performing general ledger reconciliations, assisting with compilations, reviews, and analyzing financial data. The Staff Accountant will also collaborate with clients and provide support on accounting-related matters.

Responsibilities:

Prepare income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and corporations
Prepare, analyze, and review tax-related financial statements
Research and resolve tax issues
Perform and review general ledger reconciliations
Analyze financial data and provide strategic tax insights
Collaborate with clients and provide expert tax advice
Ensure compliance with tax regulations and standards

Required:

Demonstrates genuine care for their work, the firm, and their team
Maintains a consistently positive, solutions-oriented attitude
Takes ownership and accountability for their work — no excuse-making, finger-pointing, or “not my job” mindset
At least 2 years of experience preparing individual or business tax returns
Bachelor's degree

Preferred:

Experience using UltraTax, Lacerte or CCH
Proficiency in QuickBooks
Trust and estate experience
