Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Finance team at SpyGlass Pharma. The Staff Accountant will support day-to-day accounting operations, with a focus on accounts payable processing, vendor management, fixed assets, and general accounting activities. Reporting to the Accounting Manager and working closely with the Senior Accountant & Assistant Controller, this person will support the month-end close process, financial statement preparation, and other critical financial functions that support the company’s growth.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Process vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy, proper approvals, support, and correct general ledger coding.

  • Assist in review and processing of employee expense reports, ensuring accuracy, GL coding, and compliance with the corporate Travel & Entertainment policy.

  • Review and process purchase requests and purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and proper GL coding.

  • Support company credit card purchases, receipt review, and monthly statement reconciliation.

  • Support vendor management, including vendor setup and maintenance, and responding to vendor inquiries.

  • Maintain and organize invoices & bills to assist with payment runs (ACH, check, wire) & remittance follow ups in accordance with company policy.

  • Assist in maintaining the fixed asset schedule by way of processing invoices, confirming in-use dates, and supporting monthly/quarterly/annual confirmations in accordance with company policy.

  • Perform data entry and maintain ERP system data integrity by regularly reviewing and monitoring inputs and records.

  • Assisting with Month-end accrual process by ensuring AP is up-to-date, requesting accruals from vendors, and monitoring open orders, SOW’s, and PO’s.

  • Assist with month-end and year-end close activities, including accruals, prepaid amortization, and account analysis.

  • Reconcile bank statements and assigned general ledger accounts on a regular basis.

  • Assist with external audits by preparing supporting schedules and responding to requests.

  • Support the preparation of ad hoc financial reports & analysis.

  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities as needed.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Finance, HR, and Operations.

  • Follow internal accounting policies, procedures, and SOX requirements.

  • Identify and suggest process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications Required For Position:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • 1–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences company, or public accounting experience.

  • Hands-on experience with AP processing and general accounting functions.

  • Experience with accounting systems (NetSuite preferred)

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, formulas).

  • Working knowledge of US GAAP and basic accounting principles.

  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain financial information clearly.

  • Adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced, growing organization.

Certificates/Licenses Preferred for Role:

  • CPA certification or progress toward CPA is a plus, but not required.
