The company headquarters are based in Mashpee, MA, with multiple retail and restaurant locations throughout the USA.
Reports to: Director of Finance
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Staff Accountant will be an integral part of the financial team managing all accounting functions in a fast-moving and dynamic multi-location company. This is a full-time, exempt salaried position.
(1) Active involvement in all day-to-day accounting functions of Black Dog’s food service, retail and e-commerce businesses, which includes:

Processing of invoicing and accounts payable

General ledger accounting (entries, accruals, etc.)

Cash collections, banking and cash management

Sales and Use tax returns for state and local jurisdictions

Bank Accounts and other monthly reconciliations including balance sheets

Management of corporate credit card spending and related entries

Payroll and benefits accounting (as applicable)

Expense Reimbursement, and other daily accounting functions.
(2) Coordination of the monthly financial closing and reporting processes. Work with Director of Finance to prepare GAAP-compliant financial statements with meaningful narrative and variance analysis to prior periods as well as budget.
(3) Assist in expense management and control, with focus on understanding expense and revenue trends. Assist in annual budgetary process and Company forecasting/reforecasting.
(4) Liaison with operating teams and staff in stores and restaurants to ensure compliance with financial processing, invoice and inventory management.
(5) Assist in annual financial audit/review and preparation of tax returns.
(6) Work in collaboration with Director of Finance to improve internal controls and procedures and strive to make processes more efficient while maintaining accuracy.

(8) Other special projects and analysis as needed by Director of Finance.
Job Specification (Experience and Knowledge Requirements):
Education (Minimum)
- B.S. in Accounting or Finance.
Experience
- 3+ years previous experience in a Finance/Accounting department in a dynamic company. Experience with a general ledger accounting system (QuickBooks) or similar program a huge plus. High level of proficiency with MS Office suite, especially Excel.
Specialized Knowledge

Experience in retail, hospitality, or food service industries is a plus.

Experience with artificial intelligence (AI) tools and apps (claude, Co-Pilot, etc.) is a plus

Self-starter with ability to multi-task and perform under pressure and deadlines a must. Must be articulate and possess excellent communication skills and strong work ethic, good planning and prioritization skills. Candidate must be able to review detailed work as well as understand the “bigger picture.”

In-Office Position

This is an in-office position, working in our Mashpee office location. Willingness to travel to local and regional company locations, as applicable.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year

Work Location: In person
