Position: ** Staff Accountant**

The Staff Accountant will support the day-to-day accounting and financial close processes in a growing public-company environment. This position will assist with general ledger activities, journal entries, account reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting, while developing a strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and internal controls. The Staff Accountant will work closely with the accounting team and other departments to research and resolve accounting issues, maintain accurate financial records, support audits, and contribute to process improvements and IPO readiness initiatives.

This hybrid position will be based at ZincFive headquarters in Tualatin, Oregon, with 2โ€“3 days per week in the office and the remaining time remote. This role reports to the VP & Global Corporate Controller.** **

Staff Accountant Job Duties:

  • Support month-end and quarter-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and review of general ledger activity

  • Manage accounting for accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and other assigned balance sheet accounts, including monthly activity and analysis

  • Prepare and maintain assigned balance sheet account schedules and investigate and resolve variances

  • Prepare recurring and non-recurring journal entries and ensure transactions are recorded accurately and timely in accordance with U.S. GAAP

  • Assist with monthly analysis of balance sheet and income statement accounts and identify unusual or unexpected activity

  • Support the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reporting and related schedules

  • Assist with annual audits and quarterly reviews by preparing schedules, supporting documentation, and responding to auditor requests

  • Support internal controls, accounting policies, and compliance procedures

  • Partner with FP&A and cross-functional teams to research and resolve accounting questions and discrepancies in a timely manner

  • Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency, strengthen controls and improve accounting close activities

  • Assist with technical accounting research and implementation of new accounting standards and business transactions

  • Support ad hoc financial analysis, projects, and other accounting initiatives as needed

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or manufacturing environment

  • Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and fundamental accounting principles.

  • Experience supporting month-end and quarter-end close processes, account reconciliations, and financial reporting

  • Support external audits and preparing audit documentation

  • Experience with accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and balance sheet account reconciliations

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify, investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams

  • Ability to work independently while contributing as a member of a team

  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, laws and internal policies

  • Proficiency with ERP systems such as SAP, NetSuite, or Oracle and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel

  • Strong problem-solving skills, a willingness to learn with an continuous improvement mindset

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to SOX compliance, internal controls, or public company accounting requirements

  • Experience in a publicly traded or pre-IPO company

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or progress toward obtaining a CPA license

  • Big Four public accounting experience preferred

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Work involves sitting, standing, and lifting up to 10 pounds

  • Repetitive typing and computer work for extended periods of time

  • High volume of phone calls for extended periods of time
