About the Opportunity:

The Staff Machine Learning Engineer, Supply leads the technical direction and execution of machine learning systems supporting forecasting, supply positioning, and fleet optimization. This role combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership and mentorship to develop scalable ML solutions that directly influence mobility operations and business outcomes. The position is responsible for driving complex ML initiatives from strategy and system design through production deployment and measurable impact.

Responsibilities:

• Define and own the technical vision and roadmap for machine learning systems supporting forecasting and fleet optimization.

• Lead complex, cross-functional ML projects from problem definition and modeling through production deployment and business impact.

• Make primary technical decisions related to system architecture, modeling approaches, data pipelines, and engineering standards.

• Mentor engineers and strengthen team capabilities across machine learning and software engineering.

• Collaborate with product and operations leaders to align ML strategies with business objectives.

• Establish best practices for machine learning development, deployment, monitoring, and continuous iteration at scale.

• Identify opportunities that balance immediate business impact with long-term platform and infrastructure investments.

• Contribute hands-on to critical areas of the codebase while enabling broader team execution.

• Promote reliable, scalable, and maintainable ML systems through strong engineering practices.

• Use AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering efficiency and code quality while maintaining appropriate validation and security standards.

Requirements:

• 7+ years of experience across software engineering and machine learning, including experience leading large-scale ML systems in production.

• Proven experience serving as a technical or team lead for multi-engineer projects.

• Strong system design skills with experience building scalable ML architectures and data pipelines.

• Ability to translate ambiguous business challenges into technical strategies with measurable outcomes.

• Experience mentoring engineers and influencing engineering culture and technical practices.

• Proficiency in Python and machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.

• Strong experience with data technologies such as SQL and Spark.

• Experience using AI-assisted development tools with an understanding of validation, reliability, and security risks.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience leading machine learning platforms at company or organizational scale.

• Background in time-series modeling, forecasting, optimization, or operations research.

• Familiarity with experimentation, causal inference, and decision-making under uncertainty.

Pay Range and Compensation Package:

• Base salary is determined based on location, skills, experience, and other relevant factors.

• Total compensation may include discretionary annual performance bonuses and equity, subject to applicable terms and eligibility.
