Job Summary
The Staff Nurse at Cobh Hospital is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centred nursing care in accordance with professional standards, clinical guidelines, and hospital policies. The Staff Nurse works as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective, and compassionate care for patients, promoting dignity, respect, and holistic wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care

Provide evidence-based nursing care to patients in line with best practice and hospital protocols.

Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualised care plans.

Administer medications safely and maintain accurate medication records in accordance with NMBI standards.

Monitor patient progress, report concerns promptly, and escalate when necessary.

Ensure the safe use of equipment and maintain a clean, therapeutic environment.
Patient Safety & Quality

Adhere to infection prevention and control (IPC) guidelines at all times.

Record and maintain accurate clinical documentation using appropriate systems.

Participate in audits, quality initiatives, and continuous improvement activities.

Uphold safeguarding practices for vulnerable patients.
Communication & Teamwork

Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to support coordinated patient care.

Communicate effectively and compassionately with patients, families, and colleagues.

Provide support, guidance, and mentorship to healthcare assistants and student nurses.

Participate in handovers, team meetings, and case discussions.
Professional Development

Maintain professional registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).

Engage in mandatory training and ongoing professional development.

Keep up to date with clinical best practices and hospital procedures.
Qualifications & Requirements

Registered active NMBI registration.

Previous clinical experience desirable; newly qualified nurses may be considered.

Strong clinical judgement and ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.

Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.

Pay: โฌ36,500.00-โฌ46,500.00 per year
