The role involves providing patient care of the highest quality to patients under the supervision of the consultant team. You will also be expected to maintain a safe and healthy environment for patients, visitors and staff. This is a uniformed post and you will be expected to wear uniform as provided and directed.

You will report directly to the Senior Staff Nurse and ultimately to the Lead Nurse. While we anticipate you will be mainly based at our Centre of Excellence on Harley Street, we expect that you are able to work across all our sites as required. This is a fixed-term, full-time position for one year, working 35 hours per week, Monday to Saturday. There may be an opportunity for the role to become permanent in the future, subject to service requirements and performance.

The Role

Key Responsibilities

Professional Responsibilities:

· Support the induction, training, and ongoing development of HCAs within the team, acting as a point of escalation for clinical queries, concerns, or issues arising during clinic.

· Participate in clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives as required, supporting the implementation of agreed actions.

· Support new and existing colleagues by sharing knowledge, assisting with orientation, and contributing to a positive learning environment.

· Attend departmental meetings when required and contribute to discussions relating to patient care, clinical practice and service improvement.

· Offer clear, visible, and professional to colleagues, acting as a supportive presence and setting a high standard of practice and conduct across the team.

· Serve as a positive role model by encouraging collaboration, promoting professional development, and maintaining a culture of mutual respect and teamwork.

· Communicate effectively with the Lead Nurse, Senior Staff Nurse, consultants and wider multidisciplinary team, escalating concerns appropriately.

· Foster a positive and effective working environment by using strong interpersonal and communication skills to motivate staff and resolve issues as they arise.

· Ensure the safe and timely flow of patients through the department by exercising sound clinical judgement, effectively prioritising care needs, and proactively addressing any barriers to smooth patient progression.

· Assist with the management of clinical supplies, ensuring that stock levels are maintained within budgetary limits and supporting accurate ordering and stock control processes.

· Contribute to departmental efficiency by participating in regular stock checks and helping to reduce waste or overuse of resources.

Clinical Responsibilities:

· Take full responsibility for delivering personalised patient care, ensuring all actions align with the practice’s established model of care.

· Consistently apply a holistic and patient-centred approach, considering each patient's physical, emotional, and social needs.

· Undertake clinical observations (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, weight) and maintain thorough, accurate, and up-to-date nursing and patient records to support high standards of clinical documentation and continuity of care.

· Foster and maintain strong working relationships with all members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure patients receive coordinated and effective treatment.

· Adhere strictly to all practice guidelines, policies, procedures, and processes, while also contributing to their ongoing implementation and regular review.

· Oversee the smooth running of the clinic, including chaperoning patients during consultations, ensuring consultation and treatment rooms are cleaned and reset between patients, performing phlebotomy and collecting blood samples, managing specimen labelling and handling, conducting basic observations, and assisting consultants during outpatient procedures.

· Deliver a range of nurse-led services, such as administering vaccinations and injections, as well as conducting smear tests, in line with current clinical guidelines.

· Assist Consultants during outpatient hysteroscopy procedures, ensuring patients receive safe, compassionate and efficient care before, during and after treatment.

· Promptly report any incidents, near misses, complaints, or concerns in accordance with the practice’s reporting procedures to support a culture of safety and transparency.

· Identify and report equipment faults without delay, taking appropriate steps to ensure timely repairs or replacements.

· Take responsibility for upholding health and safety standards, including fire safety, within the clinical environment.

· Always follow Infection Control Procedures and Sharps Safety Protocols to minimise risk and promote a safe setting for patients and staff.

· Provide support to the Lead Nurse in meeting Care Quality Commission (CQC) requirements and ensuring the practice remains compliant with all regulatory standards.

· Respond appropriately to clinical emergencies, including recognising and escalating deteriorating patients

Education and Certifications

· Degree in nursing or a health-related subject

· Registered Nurse (Valid NMC registration)

Experience and Qualifications

Essencial:

· Phlebotomy experience.

· Nursing experience in a gynaecology outpatient setting.

· Excellent customer care and communication skills.

· Enthusiastic, well organised, motivated and have a compassionate nature.

· Positive attitude, particularly towards flexibility and change.

· Ability to maintain patient confidentiality, dignity and ensuring the correct disposal of confidential waste is followed.

· Awareness of GDPR.

· Excellent time keeping skills and working as part of a multidisciplinary team.

· A willingness to work outside the core responsibilities of the role.

Desirable:

· Nursing experience within the private sector.

· Experience assisting with outpatient hysteroscopy procedures.
