Job description
-
Growth Engineering is the team responsible for building and maintaining the reliable, configurable systems that power scalable client launches and secure member access to Modern Health, one that gives customers programmatic and self-service control over eligibility, identity, and feature packaging while ensuring members can quickly and reliably reach the care they’re entitled to

Collectively, this is the engineering core of how Modern Health onboards, authenticates, and scales technical access for every client and member globally
-
We’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer who can operate with high ownership across the full stack: someone we can trust to work cross-functionally with product and design, translate ambiguous problems into clear technical plans (tech specs/RFCs), and then execute against that plan, both individually and in close collaboration with other engineers
-
You’ll be expected to have (or quickly build) deep familiarity with our tech stack and product domain so you can move fast without First-derivative learning curves slowing down the team
-
We expect an engineer at this level to be ramped up and owning critical parts of roadmap development within 30 days of onboarding

Implement web and mobile user experiences using React & React Native
-
Engineer efficient and reusable systems that drive complex web and mobile applications
-
Maintain HIPAA and GDPR compliance and general security through best practice implementation
-
Independently write and execute technical plans (tech specs/RFCs) for large, ambiguous, cross-domain projects, negotiating scope with product along the way
-
Lead ambiguous or large projects, working collaboratively with design, product, cross-functional partners, and other engineers to deliver a cohesive adaptive care experience
-
Serve as the directly responsible individual from engineering on roadmap commitments, owning launch timelines, decomposing work, and coordinating dependencies across teams
-
Write and maintain technical documentation, unit tests, and integration tests
-
Be a thought leader in strategic engineering and tech initiatives, and contribute to cross-team engineering forums
-
Lead and contribute to cross-team engineering forums and on cross-team engineering projects
-
Mentor other engineers to scale your impact both on Care Journey and across the engineering department
-
Provide compassionate and impactful reviews of technical project plans and code
-
Participate in on-call, driving investigation, remediation, and process improvements from recurring issues
