Staff Software Engineer (Healhtcare Marketplace)

• At Rula, improving access to mental healthcare starts with building a healthy and efficient marketplace for both patients and providers

• We’re seeking a Staff Software Engineer to help shape the future of the Marketplace Health Engine, a foundational initiative focused on improving marketplace efficiency, provider utilization, and patient access at scale

• In this high-impact role, you will partner closely with Engineering, Product, Data, and Operations to design and deliver scalable systems that help identify and address marketplace challenges

• You will drive technical strategy, mentor engineers, and influence key decisions across the Marketplace organization while remaining hands-on in software development

• Experience driving projects end-to-end, from discovery and design through implementation, launch, and post-launch support

• Experience leading technical initiatives across multiple teams and influencing technical strategy without direct authority

• Strong communication skills with the ability to align technical and non-technical stakeholders around a shared vision

• 8+ years of related professional software engineering experience building scalable distributed systems

• Experience partnering effectively with Product and Data to deliver business outcomes

• Experience designing and building backend services, APIs, and data-intensive systems (AWS preferred)

• Experience solving complex marketplace, platform, or large-scale operational problems with measurable impact

• Start-up experience

• Experience developing SaaS applications using the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud platform

• Experience with “on-call”, ability to deep dive complex issues and drive them to resolution independently

• Experience with NodeJs, Typescript, Kafka

• Previous experience in products with high reliability/accuracy requirements
