Staff Software Engineer

Job Description & Skill Requirements:

• Design and build scalable, efficient, and robust backend systems for Zoox's ride-hailing service.

• Own core functionality such as payments, fleet dispatch, and service management.

• Make significant contributions to technical roadmaps and development plans and execute them effectively.

• Uphold engineering excellence by demonstrating best practices in software development, including design reviews, code reviews, software testing, and documentation.

Qualifications:

• 8+ years of cloud software experience.

• Experience running and optimizing production-grade systems for maximum efficiency and resilience.

• Extensive experience with the design, implementation, and operation of backend microservices.

• Proficiency with Kotlin or Java, REST APIs, and SQL.

• Experience running production services using cloud infrastructure such as Kubernetes and Docker.

Bonus Qualifications:

• Experience with Spring Boot-based microservice architectures, PostgreSQL, and Elasticsearch.

• Experience in transportation, robotics, logistics, or autonomous vehicles.

• Experience with event-driven architecture and Kafka.
