Staff Software Engineer – Organizations (Country & Organization Work Profiles)
ZealTech
Job description
Client is seeking a
Staff Software Engineer
to join the Organizations team. This team builds the platform layer that issues, manages, and presents
Work and Organization
Profiles — verified records that establish a person's relationship to a country or employer and unlock access to resources predicated on those relationships. These profiles are the foundation for a broad and growing set of use cases across industries: from employment compliance to enterprise access management to professional credentialing to member discounts and benefits. The team owns two complementary profile types.
Country Work Profiles
establish a person's
authorization
to work in a given country or their basis of citizenship — powering use cases like Form I-9 compliance for new hires, US-person gating for frontier AI model access, and federal procurement eligibility. Organization Work Profiles establish a person's employment relationship to a specific organization — unlocking resources predicated on that relationship, such as a physician's authority to prescribe controlled substances, a surgeon's privileges at a hospital, an employee's access to workplace discounts, or a contractor's authorization for physical site access. The platform is the capability; any given use case is an application of it. As a Staff Software Engineer (P5), you will be the
frontend technical anchor
for this team. You will drive the architecture of profile creation, management, and presentation experiences across the ID.me Wallet and enterprise-facing surfaces — building flows that are reusable across profile types and use cases, not purpose-built
for a single application.
The ideal candidate brings deep
React expertise
, strong instincts for platform-first
UI design,
and the ability to translate complex
eligibility and identity
relationships into clear, composable member experiences.
Key Responsibilities
• Build Profile Creation & Verification Flows: Design and implement the member-facing experiences through which Work Profiles are established — including document capture,
identity proofing
, attestation, and profile writing. Build flows that are composable and reusable across profile types (Country Work, Organization Work, Military, and future types) rather than hardcoded to a single use case.
•
Own the Profile
Wallet Experience
: Architect the Wallet UI for displaying, managing, and presenting profiles as verified credentials — including credential status, lifecycle states (valid, expiring, revoked), and presentation flows for resources that require a specific profile. Ensure members have a clear, trustworthy view of what they’ve proven and where it can be used. •
Build
Employer & Enterprise
-Facing Tools: Implement the employer, agent, and enterprise interfaces that consume profiles to gate access to resources — spanning use cases from I-9 Section 2 completion and QA tooling to employer credentialing dashboards to reporting surfaces for enterprise channel partners. Design these tools to be configurable across use cases rather than specific to one integration.
•
**Design a Reusable Frontend Platform
:**
Establish the component library, state management patterns, and API integration abstractions that the Organizations team’s frontend builds on. Design for extensibility: new profile types and use cases should require configuration, not rewrites. Accelerate delivery across the roadmap by investing in shared, well-tested foundations. •
Set Frontend Engineering Standards:
Serve as the technical anchor for the team’s frontend codebase. Define patterns for form validation, error handling, multi-step flows, and provider integrations. Establish testing and code quality standards, conduct code reviews, and mentor mid-level engineers.
•
**Partner Closely with Design and Product
:**
Work hand-in-hand with Design and Product to translate complex eligibility rules, organizational relationships, and access policies into feasible, member-centered UI experiences. Push back constructively when designs create compliance risk or undermine platform reusability, and proactively surface edge cases across the diverse member and use case landscape.
• Performance, Accessibility & Reliability
: Ensure profile experiences meet
clients standards
for performance, accessibility (WCAG), and cross-device reliability. Instrument flows with meaningful analytics and error monitoring, identify abandonment points, and drive continuous improvement of pass rates and member experience quality. • AI-Forward Engineering: Champion AI-first engineering practices on the team — leveraging AI tooling for code generation, test coverage, documentation, and UI iteration. Model and reinforce a culture where AI accelerates both individual productivity and team delivery.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with deep expertise in f
rontend and full-stack web development.
•
Expert-level proficiency in React and TypeScript
, with a track record of building complex, multi-step form flows and consumer-facing experiences at scale
. • Strong understanding of state management, async data patterns, and frontend performance optimization in production applications.
• Experience designing and implementing document capture or file upload flows, including validation, error handling, and progressive disclosure for complex input requirements.
• Proven ability to lead frontend technical initiatives end-to-end with minimal oversight, from design handoff through production deployment.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with experience working closely with Design, Product, and backend engineers to ship high-quality, compliant experiences. Preferred Qualifications
• Experience building identity verification, credentialing, or eligibility flows — particularly flows involving document capture, identity proofing, or attribute-based access to resources.
• Familiarity with profile-based or attribute-based access control models, and experience building UI surfaces that surface verified credentials or access rights to members and enterprises.
• Background in one or more of the domains the Organizations platform serves: employment compliance (I-9/E-Verify, background screening), professional credentialing (healthcare, government), enterprise access management, or member benefits and discounts.
• Experience building or contributing to digital wallet or credential management experiences, including displaying verified identity attributes and managing credential lifecycle states.
• Familiarity with
OAuth2, OpenID
Connect, and token-based authentication flows in the context of member-facing applications.
• Experience in regulated industries such as
healthcare, government services, or financial services
, where compliance requirements directly shape
UI and UX decisions.
• Startup or high-growth company experience with a strong bias for execution, ownership, and making something better every day.
