**Chartered Structural Engineer (Freelance) – Design Check & Site Sign-Off**

**About us**

Liam G Builders is a construction and property development company working on residential and commercial projects. We're looking for a chartered structural engineer to check and sign off completed structural designs, then inspect and sign off the works once built. Ongoing work is available across our project pipeline.

**The project**

Designs and calcs are already complete for:

  • Structural steelwork: beams, columns, padstones and connections

  • A propped retaining wall in clay, about 1.0 to 1.5m retained, under an existing concrete slab and steps

  • Foundations and associated masonry and concrete elements

**What you'll do**

  • Check the existing calcs and drawings for compliance with Eurocodes (UK National Annex) and Part A of the Building Regulations

  • Issue a signed design certificate on your letterhead for Building Control

  • Respond to any Building Control queries on the design

  • Inspect key stages on site, including steel connections and padstones, and reinforcement before pours

  • Issue a completion letter confirming the works have been built in accordance with the approved design

**What we need**

  • CEng or IEng, MIStructE or MICE, registered with the Engineering Council

  • PI insurance in your own name

  • Experience checking steelwork in existing buildings and retaining walls or underpinning

  • Availability for site visits and fast turnaround

Our proposed fee structure is payable in two stages. Stage 1, £150, is payable once you have reviewed and signed off the structural documents. Stage 2, £350, is payable after your site visit to confirm that all steelwork has been installed in the correct positions and is signed off. This brings the total fee to £500.
