About Us

Metta Design Consultancy Ltd. is a growing structural design and survey practice providing structural engineering and fire safety consultancy services across residential and commercial sectors. We undertake structural surveys, building inspections, and design services in accordance with British Standards and Eurocodes.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Structural Surveyor on a part-time or freelance basis to assist with on-site inspections and preparation of detailed structural survey reports. The ideal candidate will have a solid technical understanding of residential and small commercial structures, with the ability to diagnose structural defects and prepare professional, client-facing reports.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out on-site structural inspections of residential and commercial buildings across the UK.
Identify and assess structural defects such as movement, cracking, roof issues, and foundation concerns.
Take accurate site measurements, photographs, and detailed notes for reporting.
Prepare comprehensive structural survey reports.

Requirements

Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in structural inspections or building surveys.
Strong understanding of load-bearing structures, cracking mechanisms, and remedial methods.
Excellent written communication and report-writing skills.
Ability to work independently and manage own time effectively.

Preferred Experience

Chartered or working toward chartership (IStructE / ICE).
Familiarity with software such as Tekla Tedds, AutoCAD, or similar.
Experience working with private homeowners, estate agents, or insurance-related surveys.
