About Allied Technologies International
Allied Technologies International (ATI) is a precision CNC Swiss contract manufacturer based in Wilsonville, Oregon. We hold AS9100 Rev D, ISO 13485, ITAR registration, and US FDA registrations, and we supply mission-critical components to aerospace, space, and medical customers. We run tight tolerances, hold demanding schedules, and take quality personally.
Role Overview
This role owns the quality and coordination of ATI's outside service providers (OSPs) โ the vendors who plate, polish, chemfilm coat, anodize, clean, and pack our finished components โ and takes leadership over raw material procurement and incoming bar stock qualification.
This is a hands-on position. You will work in and around the warehouse, generate purchase orders, count and ship parts, and communicate daily with vendors. At the same time, you are expected to exercise real technical judgment: if a plating vendor is delivering dings and blemishes, you need to write and enforce corrective actions. If Swiss-grade bar stock eliminates downtime and tooling waste, you need to build that business case.
Key Responsibilities
Surface Finishing & OSP Vendor Quality
-
Manage the full OSP vendor relationship for plating (hard chrome, electroless nickel, cadmium), chemfilm (Alodine/MIL-DTL-5541), anodize, passivation, polishing, and clean/pack operations.
-
Define and enforce handling, packaging, and cleanliness requirements so parts arrive free of dings, dents, scratches, or contamination that would trigger nonconformance.
-
Review Certificates of Conformance (CoCs), process certifications, and finish specifications against drawing requirements and customer specs (AMS, MIL-SPEC, Customer Specific Requirements).
-
Issue Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) when vendors produce nonconforming results; track closure and verify effectiveness.
-
Monitor vendor lead times and communicate status proactively to production scheduling to prevent downstream delays.
-
Conduct periodic vendor assessments โ on-site or remote โ to evaluate process control, handling practices, and quality system maturity.
-
Maintain vendor qualification records and support AS9100 Rev D audit readiness.
Raw Material Procurement & Qualification
-
Place and manage purchase orders for bar stock and raw material inventory in SAP Business One.
-
Qualify new raw material vendors against ATI's quality requirements; review material certifications (MTRs), heat/lot traceability, and compliance to applicable specifications.
-
Evaluate OD tolerance variability in incoming bar stock and its impact on Swiss CNC setup, tooling wear, and first-part acceptance.
-
Analyze the cost-benefit of upgrading to Swiss-grade (close-tolerance) bar stock versus standard material, quantifying the trade-off against downtime reduction and tooling savings โ and make a recommendation with data.
-
Maintain material inventory accuracy and support cycle count and receiving inspection activities.
Warehouse Execution
-
Receive, count, inspect, and log incoming materials and OSP-returned parts.
-
Prepare outbound shipments to customers, ensuring correct part counts, packaging, labeling, and documentation.
-
Generate and manage purchase orders for outside services and raw materials in SAP B1.
-
Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant warehouse area consistent with AS9100 and customer-specific requirements.
-
Support barcode labeling and traceability initiatives.
What We're Looking For
Required
-
3+ years in a manufacturing quality, supplier quality, or materials coordination role โ aerospace, defense, medical device, or precision machining preferred.
-
Demonstrated experience managing outside service providers or vendors in a quality-accountable role (not just placing orders โ writing SCARs, enforcing specs, auditing processes).
-
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T; familiarity with surface finish callouts (Ra, Rz), coating thickness specifications, and MIL-SPEC / AMS references.
-
Comfortable working in a warehouse and production environment. This is not a desk job.
-
ERP experience โ SAP B1 a plus; any system is acceptable if you're coachable.
-
Strong written communication: you will write SCARs, PO notes, and vendor correspondence that clearly states ATI's requirements without ambiguity.
Strongly Preferred
-
Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 13485, or NADCAP special process requirements.
-
Experience with plating, anodize, chemfilm, or other surface treatment processes โ either as a customer of OSPs or from within a finishing shop.
-
Understanding of bar stock material grades, tolerances, and their influence on CNC Swiss machining outcomes.
-
Root cause analysis experience using structured methods (8D, 5-Why).
-
Lean or Six Sigma exposure (Yellow or Green Belt).
Mindset
-
You treat a vendor nonconformance as a system problem to be fixed โ not a fire to be put out and forgotten.
-
You are comfortable making a data-driven recommendation, presenting it simply, and defending it.
-
You do not confuse activity with accountability. You own outcomes.
-
You thrive in a small company where your work is visible and your judgment matters.
What We Offer
-
Competitive hourly compensation depending on experience and demonstrated capability.
-
Direct exposure to aerospace and space-grade manufacturing
-
Small company environment: your contributions are seen, your improvement ideas get implemented, and you work directly with leadership.
-
Medical, dental, and vision benefits; PTO; and a team that takes the work seriously without taking itself too seriously.
How to Apply
Submit your resume and a written response (minimum one paragraph, maximum one page) to the following prompt:
"Describe a specific situation where a vendor or supplier delivered nonconforming material or services. What was the problem, what did you do about it, and what was the lasting outcome?"
Applications submitted without the written response will not be considered. This is intentional โ we want to see how you think, not just what you've done.
