We're a hybrid business, which means you'll have flexibility alongside time together with your team. In this role, you can expect 2 days per week in our Leicester or London office, helping you stay connected, collaborate and do your best work for our customers.
The Systems Data Analyst plays a critical role in ensuring that data from Dunelmโs core systems is accurately understood, clearly defined and ready for engineering delivery. The role acts as the bridge between source systems and data engineering teams, providing detailed system and data analysis that underpins high-quality data products.
Working closely with Data Product Managers, Data Management, Data Engineers and business stakeholders, the Systems Data Analyst translates business questions into precise, system-level data requirements. This includes analysing source systems, defining data structures, producing data models and mappings, and ensuring requirements are development-ready before build begins.
What you'll be doing

Understand the data lifecycle and originating business process flows architecting as-is and to be flows where required

Analyse source systems and integrations to understand data structures, relationships and behaviours

Perform end-to-end data flow analysis into the enterprise data platform

Identify data quality issues, ambiguities and risks in source data

Requirements refinement and definition

Utilise requirements definition to inform scope andrequired data management activities.

Translate business needs into clear, system-level data requirements

Ensure data requirements meet Definition of Ready standards

Data modelling and documentation
-
Structured and logical explanations of process flows, intersection with business process and system/data outputs & outcomes in appropriate mediums (presentations, PRD's etc)

Produce conceptual, logical and physical data models

Define and maintain source-to-target data mappings
What we'll look for in you
Essential Skills And Experience

Strong analytical and system analysis skills

Experience producing data models and data requirements, including conceptual, logical and physical

Strong SQL skills for data validation

Exposure to Python

Experience with enterprise data platforms

Clear written and verbal communication

Ability to produce structured, reusable documentation

An inquisitive and curious mindset

Collaborative and T-shaped; willing to contribute where required to get the job done
Nice To Haves

Exposure to ETL / ELT pipelines

Retail systems experience (ERP, POS, Supply Chain, Digital)
