Due to growth, Sandfire has an opening for a Tax Accountant to join our dynamic Finance team. Reporting to the Manager - Tax, the Tax Accountant provides preparatory, analytical and tax planning support across the Sandfire Group, ensuring the company meets its statutory tax filings, regulatory and reporting obligations. This role also supports group tax planning activities, prepares and reviews research on tax matters, liaises with external tax advisors, develops and maintains governance and assurance processes and procedures and implements improvement initiatives as required.

Duties/ Responsibilities (include But Are Not Limited To)

  • Proactive support to ensure the Sandfire Group is meeting all statutory tax filing requirements in all jurisdictions that it operates in.

  • Provide analytical support and assistance within the Group Tax Function as required.

  • Review of Australian indirect tax workings (BAS / Payroll Tax) as required.

  • Preparation of workings and liaising with external consultants on Australian Income Tax and Fringe Benefits Tax returns.

  • Supporting the Manager - Tax with the preparation of tax provisions and deferred tax workings.

  • Assist with the preparation of Country-by-Country Reporting and Pillar 2 Reporting -requirements.

  • Management of Australian Transfer Pricing arrangements, including the calculation of recharges to overseas operations.

  • Assistance with tax planning initiatives and researching tax matters where required.

  • Assisting with statutory financial statements and audit workpapers.

  • Assisting with tax budgeting and forecasting.

About You

  • Bachelor degree majoring in Accounting

  • Post-graduate qualifications (CPA/CA).

  • At least five years of experience gained from working in tax accountant roles ideally in the resources sector and with international exposure.

  • High level of attention to detail.

  • Good understanding of Australian company tax and tax effect accounting

  • Highly developed Excel skills.

  • High level of IT literacy and familiarity with BI tools.

  • Excellent liaison and communication skills.

  • Ability to work autonomously and effectively as part of a team.

  • Good oral and written communication skills.

  • Excellent numerical skills.
