Position Title: Senior Interior Designer

Reports To: General Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION

Lead design process and coordinate project stakeholder objectives/issues from concept stage through installation.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Have a passion for Interior Design.

· Meet with clients to determine relevant factors that affect the planning and execution of projects. These items include but not limited to design preferences, functionality, purpose and budgets.

· Application of basic elements and principles of design including form, scale, color, texture, pattern, light, balance and proportion.

· Developing detailed, attractive, appropriate and functional interior design solutions that meet project requirements.

· Demonstrate detailed knowledge of the latest commercial interior finish materials and furnishings.

· Applying knowledge and skills to research and evaluate interior finish systems and FF&E in the development of interior design projects and specifications.

· Work with consultants, contractors, fabricators, specification writers and local authorities to meet overall project objectives.

· Confer with clients, consultants, contractors, and others during various stages of project development.

· Oversee the implementation of interior design solutions for each project from concept stage through installation.

· Confirm that preliminary space plans and design concepts are safe, functional, aesthetically appropriate, and meet all public health, safety, and welfare requirements.

· Select colors, materials and finishes to appropriately convey the design concept, functional, life- cycle performance, environmental, and safety equipment.

· Select and specify furniture, fixtures, equipment and millwork, including layout drawings and detailed product descriptions, and provision of contract documentation to facilitate pricing, procurement, and installation of furniture.

· Prepare and give oral presentations of proposed designs and other related topics.

· Demonstrate sufficient awareness and knowledge of related engineering disciplines such as architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection, to assure that the areas of aver lapping responsibilities receive proper design consideration and that total project objectives are met.

· Prepare construction documents, consisting of plans, elevations, details, and specifications to illustrate non-structural and/or non-seismic partition layouts, power and communications locations, reflected ceiling plans and lighting designs, materials and finishes, and furniture layouts.

· Coordination and collaboration with other design professionals who may be retained to provide consulting services, including but not limited to architects, structural, mechanical and electrical engineers, and various specialty consultants.

· Provides design support to project team members which may include basic and detailed design plans.

· Review detailed shop drawings and construction plans.

· Participates in field observations to monitor construction process.

MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

· Strong leadership, organizational, communication and relationship-management skills

· Conducting self in accordance with professional practice standards.

· Adheres to firm and project goals of excellence in design and execution.

· Coordination of multiple projects simultaneously

· Observation and reporting on the implementation of projects while in progress and, upon completion, as a representative of an on behalf of the client

· Develop the abilities (creative & technical) of Junior Interior Designers

· Coordinates with Consultants

· Performs within constraints of project budgets and schedules.

· Be involved with coordinating contractors, consultants and vendor assignments

· Responsible for the completion of the full package and design plans.

· Meet customer’s needs, budget within established project schedule.

· To manage multiple projects simultaneously

Qualifications

· A professional degree in Interior Design, or related discipline

· 6+ years of experience

· Proficiency in 3D modeling, visualization, and graphic software

· Strong design portfolio

· Strong competency in interior design specifications, calculations and industry standards, and application of building codes and specifications

· Ability to direct and coordinate work efforts of junior staff

· Experience in all phases and aspects of a project

· Effective verbal and written communication skills

· Problem solving skills, attention to detail, and motivation to learn

· Collaborative and professional work ethic
